Call For Sessions

37th Annual Mid-East Honors Association Conference

April 10th-12th, 2015

Proposals for sessions may be on any topic.

Sessions are 60 minutes in length.  We welcome individual paper submissions, which will be organized by the program committee into sessions.  Submissions of complete pre-organized sessions around common themes are also welcome.  Submitters of individual papers should expect no longer than 15 minutes to present their information and 5 minutes for questions (20 minutes total).  Panels may be proposed for a total of 30 minutes (or about 23 minutes for the presentation and 7 minutes for questions).  Please note that there will be no additional charge for A/V (presentation rooms will have PCs and projection systems).

We hope to receive submissions from a variety of presenters, including students, staff, faculty and administrators.  Submissions on the following areas are all welcome:

  • Student research
  • Honors classes, teaching and curriculum (class design and experiences, curriculum development and structure, learning communities, service-learning, interdisciplinary courses)
  • Student organizations and activities (student associations, participation, service within community)
  • Honors administration and issues in higher education (assessment, staffing, budgeting, retention of honors students, and diversity, etc.)

Students are also encouraged to enter their work into the poster competition, sponsored by MEHA member institutions. Details can be found on the Student Poster Competition page of this website.

Session/paper proposals should be sent via e-mail to honors@gvsu.edu with the subject line “Oral Session Proposal for MEHA.”  The deadline for submission is February 28, 2015.
