Conference Schedule 2018

Mid-east Honors association annual conference welcome from President Mobley

Columbus State Community College (CSCC) is proud to host the 2018 Annual Conference of the Mideast Honors
Association. CSCC is a bustling urban campus with over 24,000 students. The campus is conveniently located within the heart of downtown Columbus, Ohio and only moments away from some of the state’s other leading colleges and universities. The centralized campus location allows for easy access to hotels, restaurants, entertainment and cultural attractions. Visitors can easily walk between destinations, or choose to use the well-developed public transportation system. If the weather is nice, visitors can even rent a bicycle and cycle throughout the downtown area! There is no shortage of things to do within Columbus, and we hope that you will seize this opportunity to visit our beautiful city and campus.

Conference planning is well underway, and we are excited to announce that the Friday night student mixer will feature a special group of four-legged visitors from the world famous Columbus Zoo. Bring your cameras, and prepare to be amazed! The evening will also feature a full-dinner, and lots of other games and ice-breakers for student attendees.

Saturday morning will begin with the popular student poster session, and be followed by a riveting set of student presentations that will continue throughout Sunday afternoon. We are excited to announce that this year we will be hosting a graduate/transfer school fair during Saturday’s lunch. Representatives from colleges and universities from throughout the region will be present to discuss graduate school programs, and four-year transfer options. For a complete list of institutions that will be present, please visit the MEHA conference website.

Saturday afternoon will feature a full-line of cultural activities, including a guided tour of the Ohio Statehouse and the Columbus Museum of Art. Conference attendees may also choose to participate in a walking tour of the popular Short North arts district, or a downtown architectural walking tour (weather permitting). Student and faculty representatives from CSCC will also be happy to provide advice to anyone seeking to enjoy any of Columbus’ other attractions.

We hope that everyone will join us for the Saturday evening banquet where we will recognize the hard work and
achievements of honors students. Poster and paper awards, as well as this year’s “Student of the Year’ will be
announced. Nominations for this award are currently being accepted online via the MEHA website.

On behalf of Columbus State Community College, I welcome each of you to join us for the 2018 annual MEHA
conference and the opportunity to “Find Your Future.”

Sincerely,

Rebecca J. Mobley
